Yak wool is also called the woolly treasure of the Tibetan high plains. This type of wool comes from the yak ox. Yak wool is the soft undercoat (khullu) that oxen develop in autumn and winter and shed naturally in the late spring months. Yak oxen are neither combed nor sheared. The wool must therefore be collected at just the right time, otherwise it will be lost. The wool is soft and can really keep you warm. This natural wool is great at holding its shape and is one of the more durable wool types.
